Using University Libraries in Research and Teaching about Slavery on Campus

University libraries, especially archives and Special Collections, are usually the starting points for research and teaching about an institution's connections with the slave trade and enslavement. Let's use this space for sharing ideas and resources about effective use of library resources in these kinds of projects.

Emory University. The University Archives's early records include the Minutes of the Board of Trustees of Emory College, recording the occasional renting of local enslaved persons for labor in building early college structures. Other relevant materials in MARBL include diaries and correspondence by antebellum faculty, trustees and benefactors, with occasional references to enslaved persons.
